High-profile North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos AFLW signing Kaitlyn Ashmore has praised the club’s recruitment strategy after it compiled one of the strongest lists in the competition’s history.

Ashmore, previously a Brisbane Lion, joined 16 other high-profile names who came to the club in the latest expansion signing period.

“I feel like the recruiting has gone really well,” Ashmore told Fox Footy’s AFL 360.

“It’s obvious the club is looking for a particular type of player that will suit the way it wants to play.

“I’m excited to be a part of it, and hope that we gel well when the time comes.”

The speedy, evasive midfielder won’t look out of place come Round 1 in 2019, with players such as Emma Kearney and Jamie Stanton, who possess similar attributes, also signing on.

“I’m a fast mover of the ball, I like to run and carry the ball, and I think a lot of the girls they have picked-up have a lot of the same qualities that I do,” she said.

“It’s going to be exciting to see if we can all use our strengths to our advantage.”

Having only officially signed with the club on Monday, Ashmore has already noticed the excitement around Arden Street for what is to come when the competition gets underway early next year.

“There’s a really good vibe around the club,” she said.

“I’ve enjoyed my time there already, and it has only been a week.

“Everyone has been really inviting, and I’m excited by what’s to come.”
