Melbourne Uni (MUWFC) will look to hit the ground running after a week's break when it takes on Casey on Saturday.

The MUGARS fell short in a strong display against ladder-leaders Collingwood a fortnight ago, despite holding sway in many of the key statistical categories.

With 36 more possessions and dominance across several positions across the ground, missed opportunities led to a 19-point defeat.

“The positive was we continued to find opportunity in the game,” coach Scott Gowans said.

“We worked our process and moved the ball well but just didn’t convert on the scoreboard.”

AFLW-listed Kangaroo Ash Riddell led the way with 33 disposals, Emma Kearney had 28, and despite a heavy tag by Collingwood captain Jess Edwards, Maddy Presparkis had 20 touches and was instrumental in ball movement.

“Once again the likes of Ash, Emma and Maddy were very impressive. They were major ball winners and helped with the transition across the ground,” Gowans said.

Standing tall were Kate Gillespie-Jones, Kailyn Ashmore and Emma Humphries, with the Roos' stars all winning their respective positions.

Clarence's TSLW player Loveth Ochayi also impressed playing a mix of ruck and forward, the young talent demonstrating just why she'll be on the AFLW Draft radar over the next few years.

“Loveth did really well, to come in from Clarence and transition into the team the way she did was really impressive,” Gowans added.

“She thrives in the competition and I’m sure she will be one to keep an eye on.”
