Number one draft prospect, Madison Prespakis, was awarded the 2018 TAC Cup Best and Fairest, alongside Geelong Falcons’ Nina Morrison.

Besides playing for the Calder Cannons, Prespakis played a dozen games this season with Melbourne University’s VFLW team which has a longstanding partnership with the North Melbourne Football Club.

Prespakis said playing with Melbourne Uni has been a highlight.

“I loved it. Coming off the field [with Melb Uni], winner or loser, was so fun,” Prespakis said.

Playing against older girls was definitely noticeable.

“Obviously, you feel the hits a lot more when you get hit [playing VFLW], and obviously you go a little further than if you get hit by a girl my size,” she said.

The benefit of being able to play with some of her AFLW idols was not lost on her.

“It was fun to experience the run out against some of the AFLW legends of the game and to do that with some of them in my own team like Emma Kearney,” she said.

“Playing across the midfield with her was a good experience for me and I definitely learnt a lot from her and I can’t wait to see what happens in the future with all the top age girls in this room.”

Receiving the TAC best and fairest was  only one of many awards that Prespakis took home this season.
Prespakis was the Calder Cannons Best and Fairest, Vic Metro MVP, AFLW under 18 All Australian and U18 Championships MVP.
