It was a season of firsts for Ben Brown, achieving career highs in tackles, kicks, clearances, goal assists, and inside 50s.

But earlier this week, the lovable forward experience another first which was quite unique.

“To my knowledge I have never had my picture on someone’s wedding dress … before this,” Brown told North Media.

“It definitely shows true commitment to North.”

Brown’s reaction was in response to hearing hard-core North supporters, Damian Butterworth and Carissa Oldham, recently tied the knot in Sorell, Tasmania with a North themed wedding.

With blue and white decorations, the Roo Mobile, and a Ben Brown badge worn on the bride’s dress, it was a day to remember.

“We are pretty hard-core supporters of North Melbourne, we were always going to have some sort of blue and white for the wedding,” Carissa told the Mercury.

“But when we were organising the wedding cars, I started thinking, ‘I wonder if we could get the Roo mobile’, and it started from there.”

It was a fitting theme for the groom, a lifelong Roos fan who hasn’t missed a game in the southernmost state.

“I was absolutely stoked ... I did ask the question if we could have the Kangaroos mascot too, but he was unavailable due to the finals,” he said.

Also a first for the club, after hearing about the couple’s commitment to North and the re-scheduling of their wedding on two occasions due to Carissa’s father facing serious health issues, it was a day to be part of.

Hobart-based Tasmanian manager Michael Moschogianis was the chauffeur on the day, driving the couple to the church in the Roo Mobile.

“We get a lot of support and a lot of love from our supporters down here in Tassie so it’s nice to be able to do something special for them like this,” Moschogianis said.
