Emerging midfielder Trent Dumont has inked a two-year contract extension, keeping him at North Melbourne until at least the end of 2021.

The 23-year-old was in career-best form this season, highlighted by a career-high 38 disposals, 7 marks, 5 tackles and 7 inside 50s in North’s Round 23 win over St Kilda.

North GM football Cameron Joyce said the extension underlines Dumont’s growing importance to the club.

“Trent came back in terrific shape in the pre-season and went to new heights this season,” he said.

“He’s a player that flies under the radar somewhat but he is super-consistent and highly regarded here at Arden St.”

Dumont averaged 21 touches in 2018 and has played 61 games since being drafted in 2013 with pick 30.

“Trent transformed his body and improved his fitness dramatically and the results of that hard work was there for all to see this year,” Joyce added.

“We’re really excited about the future for Trent and are confident he can keep improving at a rapid rate and become one of the league’s best midfielders.”
