Western Bulldogs premiership ruckman Jordan Roughead has found a new home at Collingwood.

Roughead was given a chance to reignite his career as a Magpie when he was traded at the bargain-basement price of the Pies' fourth-round pick at No.75.

The flexible big man, who was in limbo after West Coast decided to snare St Kilda ruckman Tom Hickey, has signed a two-year contract.

Roughead, who will turn 28 in November, provides solid support for All Australian ruckman Brodie Grundy and Mason Cox and has the versatility to play at either end.

"We think he can play just about anywhere," Collingwood list manager Ned Guy said.

"We think he plays straight away for us. He can play in the ruck, he can play key back, he can play key forward.

"We’re real excited to add Jordan to our list."

Roughead will reunite with his former Bulldogs skipper Matthew Boyd, who is an assistant coach at Collingwood.

He played 138 games with the Bulldogs after making his debut in 2010.

Roughead became a premiership hero when he courageously played the 2016 Grand Final despite suffering a serious eye injury in the preliminary final win over Greater Western Sydney.

The Magpies revealed Roughead is on holiday overseas and will start training with his new club in December.
