As the dust settles on what was a chaotic trade period, North Melbourne’s director of coaching, Darren Crocker, has cast his eye over the Roos’ recruits.

“The four guys that we’ve been able to pick up in the trade period, have all got attributes that are going to really help us, but they’ve also been very good players in their own right at their own clubs,” Crocker told North Media.

“Straight away we get the sense that we’ve improved our list, we’ve improved our depth, we’ve made it more competitive for spots in the team, which is really healthy for any competitive environment.”

Jared Polec | Midfielder | 26-years-old | 106 games

“Jared Polec brings tremendous run and outside penetration.

“He has been known to be able to go a little bit inside as well.”

Dom Tyson | Midfielder | 25-years-old | 107 games

“Dom Tyson just adds to our midfield depth.

“Again, he doesn’t leave us so vulnerable if anything was to happen to a Ben Cunnington, a Jack Ziebell or a Shaun Higgins.

“We know that he can come in with Jed Anderson, Ben Jacobs, Luke Davies-Uniacke and Paul Ahern, and add to that midfield depth.”

Jasper Pittard | Defender | 27-years-old | 126 games

“Jasper Pittard was close to being All-Australian a couple of years ago.

“He can provide really good run and penetration off half-back.

“He wants the ball in his hands and he wants to use the ball, so that’s a really valuable attribute that can really help us as a team.”

Aaron Hall | Midfielder | 27-years-old | 103 games

“What we’ve been able to identify is the need for some run and some penetration, and Aaron Hall at his best can really add to that break away from congestion in the contest.

“He’s got good power, good penetration and he’s a goalkicker when he’s up and running as well.

“A bit in the same vein as a Shaun Higgins, if we can get him playing consistently at his best, he can provide some real run and penetration for us.”
