As many as seven new players will be in action for North Melbourne on Saturday in Saturday’s JLT Community Series clash.

Here’s your go-to guide to get familiar with the Roos’ new faces.

13. Jared Polec | 187cm | 84kg | 26-years-old | 106 games

Recruited from Port Adelaide following a career-best year, North is hoping Polec can bring that outside run it has been craving for in recent years.

Considered one of the best wingmen in the competition, Polec is quick across the ground and has a lethal left foot, which has proven to be an ominous offensive threat.

The 26-year-old averaged 25 disposals for Port last season, and looks likely to continue that strong run of form this season after an uninterrupted summer.

Despite his ability to go into the midfield and play on-ball, expect Polec to do the majority of his work on the wing, as North look to play to his strengths.

17. Jasper Pittard | 186cm | 84kg | 27-years-old | 126 games

After a minor calf injury hindered his pre-season training, former Port Adelaide defender Pittard is back to full fitness and is ready to show what he’s capable of after being recruited in October last year.

An All-Australian squad member in 2016, Pittard has shown he has what it takes to be an impactful defender in the competition, and North is confident he can get back to his best.

Another left-footer, the Roos are hopeful Pittard can complement the likes of Luke McDonald and Jamie Macmillan by providing that run and carry off half-back and ignite transition offence.

21. Dom Tyson | 186cm | 85kg | 25-years-old | 107 games

Acquired in a trade deal with Melbourne, Tyson’s recruitment has added valuable midfield depth for North.

Drafted with pick three in the 2011 National Draft, Tyson is a hard-nosed inside midfielder who has worked hard on developing his outside game in a bid to break into North’s high quality on-ball brigade.

A prominent feature in the series of match simulations and intra-clubs this summer, Tyson hasn’t missed a beat throughout the pre-season.

In 2018, he was a part of the Melbourne side that made it to a preliminary final, so his experience and knowledge of what it takes to play at the pointy end of the season, will undoubtedly help the young Roos.

26. Tarryn Thomas | 189cm | 85kg | 18-years-old | 0 games

A member of North Melbourne’s Next Generation Academy, Thomas was the club’s first pick in last year’s National Draft, and the Tasmanian has transitioned seamlessly into the AFL environment.

A hard-tackling, smart footballer with a clean disposal and bag of tricks, Thomas is set to add a new dimension to the Roos’ forwardline.

While he played the majority of his football as junior in the midfield, the 18-year-old is expected to feature as a forward while he continues to build on his endurance.

An exciting talent, Thomas will be hopeful of showing the footy world what he’s capable of as Round 1 fastly approaches.

30. Bailey Scott | 186cm | 74kg | 18-years-old | 0 games

A father-son selection in last year’s National Draft, Scott is an exciting talent who hasn’t put a foot wrong this pre-season.

The 18-year-old is fleet of foot and his endurance was considered ‘elite’ at last year’s Draft Combine, and he has shown those same attributes at Arden Street this summer.

His light build allows him to move well across the ground, however Scott will likely aim to add some mass to better compete with the bigger AFL bodies.

Featuring as a wingman during the match simulations and the practice match against Geelong, Scott has worked closely with fellow wingers Trent Dumont and Jared Polec in a bid to fast track his development and earn a debut this season.

42. Tom Campbell | 200cm | 106kg | 27-years-old | 42 games

Recruited during the supplemental selection period in December last year, Campbell was brought in to assist veteran Todd Goldstein.

The former Western Bulldog has been one of the most impressive performers during the recent match simulations, using his height and strength to take strong contested marks and impact aerial contests.

While Campbell is a ruckman by trade, the big man has also shown that he can play forward, kicking 45 goals in his past 54 games.

43. Aaron Hall | 185cm | 85kg | 28-years-old | 103 games

Former Gold Coast Sun Hall was recruited to North Melbourne during the off-season in a bid to bring that speed and explosiveness to the club’s midfield.

While injuries hindered his 2018 season, Hall is now fit and firing and is already proving to be a valuable addition to the club.

At 28-years-old, Hall brings a wealth of experience to the group, and has been quick to impart some of his wisdom onto younger players such as Tarryn Thomas and Jy Simpkin.

Playing the majority of his football as a midfielder, the Tasmanian is versatile, showing his ability to line-up on the wing, across half forward and even at half-back.

With North’s impressive midfield depth this season, expect to see Hall featured in a variety of positions.
