After nine years at North Ballarat in the TAC Cup, the last five of which were as head coach, David Loader arrived at Arden Street at the end of 2015. 

Among his many coaching accolades, Loader was the TAC Cup’s coach of the year in 2014 and 2015, and coached his side to the minor premiership in his final year at the Rebels. 

Loader has worked within the club’s AFL system over past few years as a development coach, and was announced as North inaugural VFL senior coach for 2018. 

Loader teamed up with Brad Scott to coach North’s AFLX sides in February.

Loader has developed a strong relationship with North’s younger AFL players, which is set to hold the team in good stead as his side prepares for the season.

Gavin Brown joins the North VFL ranks after spending over a decade as a coach in the AFL system.

Brown was an assistant coach at Collingwood between 2002 and 2007, before taking over as the rthe Magpies' VFL match day coach for another two years. 

A 250-gamer for Collingwood, Brown left his former club to take up an assistant coaching role at Carlton, before eventually joining North after the 2013 season. 

Brown has taken on a senior development role at Arden Street, and continues to build strong relationships with the side’s new players. 

The experienced coach will oversee the backline.

Robbie Waters - Assistant Coach

Robbie Waters joins North’s VFL coaching ranks after spending the past two years at the Greater Western Victoria Rebels as a senior assistant coach in the TAC Cup.

Waters was a development coach at the North Ballarat Roosters in the VFL between 2009 and 2010, a period in which the Roosters won back-to-back VFL premierships. 

Waters will work closely with David Loader and Chris Jansen in looking after the midfield group. 

Ben Davey - Assistant Coach

In the midst of completing his Level Three High Performance Coaching course, Ben Davey has joined North VFL as an assistant coach. 

Davey joins the club after a three year stint as an assistant coach at the Murray Bushrangers in the TAC Cup, and had a similar role in the Vic Country setup in 2016. 

Davey will partner with Ben Dyer in coaching the team’s forwards.

Jordan Doering - Assistant Coach

Former Carlton and Essendon player Jordan Doering continues to build on his impressive coaching resume by joining North VFL.

Doering was a member of the Essendon Reserves premiership side in 1999, before featuring in Carlton’s AFL team and multiple state league clubs thereafter. 

Doering has coached at the Northern Knights in the TAC Cup, looked after the midfield at Vic Metro, and was most recently the Head of Development at the Canberra Demons in the NEAFL.

Doering will join Gavin Brown in looking after the team’s back line.

Chris Jansen joins North VFL as a player after an illustrious stint in the SANFL, but will also take on an assistant coaching role.

Jansen is looking to develop his coaching skills and create a coaching pathway with an eye on life after football.
