North duo Taylor Garner and Lachie Hansen have been given the all-clear and will play in the VFL this weekend after overcoming their respective injuries.

Garner has not featured since injuring his right hamstring against Melbourne in round three, spending the past seven weeks on the sidelines to nurse the setback.

The 186cm forward said he was itching to take the field for VFL affiliate Werribee in Saturday's clash against Collingwood at Avalon Airport Oval.

"The body feels really good and I'm excited to get back out there," Garner told NMFC.com.au on Tuesday.

"I've done a lot of stuff in the gym … and a lot of straight-line running to stretch out the hammy to make sure it's all strong.

"I'm hoping to go out there, get a few kicks and it'll be good to play with a few of the younger boys as well … and get a bit of continuity back into footy."

Hansen, meanwhile, has missed the past three weeks after being concussed in a bump from Williamstown's Cameron Lockwood, who was slapped with a two-game ban.

The Roos' defender said he had been able to take part in the last two weeks of training since experiencing a regression a few days after the incident.

"It's good to be back playing this weekend; it feels like I haven't played for a long time," Hansen said after the club's main training session on Tuesday.

"I was disappointed to miss a couple of weeks but in the long run it was the right thing to do."

Hansen said he was expecting to get through the full VFL match and slowly regain his match fitness levels over the coming weeks.

"I haven't really had much continuity this year playing games," he said.

"I'd play one week and then we'd have a bye, or I'd be carryover emergency and not play, so I'm just looking forward to getting back … and getting my confidence back."

Garner added it had been difficult watching his teammates during his extended spell on the injury list.

"It's hard not being out there when the boys are going so well, and then I had a few setbacks which was frustrating," Garner said.

"I passed that hurdle now and I'm happy to be back."
