Ben Jacobs started his year in impressive form, but a foot injury ruined much of his season.

With the exception of a single VFL match late in the year, the injury, which came to a head after North's Round 8 win over Essendon, meant he was unable to take his place back in the AFL side in 2016.

Quotes

"It's always good to nullify someone, but it's about team defence. I think everyone will be happy with the job that we did on him.” – Jacobs talking about his role on Bomber David Zaharakis

“There’s a few lonely times (in rehab) and I had that in pre-season, so it’s a bit like groundhog day for me.” – Jacobs early on in his rehab

What the coach said – Jarred Moore

“It’s hard to assess his year, given he was injured for the majority of it.

“When he was in the side, he was able to play his role for the team.

“Going forward, he’ll still be a major part of our midfield.

“His role will change week to week, adjusting in game at times depending on his opponent.

“Last year and going forward, you’ll probably see him continuing in what he’s best at, and that’s shutting down the best opposition players.”
