Jamie Macmillan will have his hands full down back on Friday when he takes on emerging forward Mason Wood in North’s much anticipated City versus Country intra-club match.

“City slickers will win of course,” Macmillan predicted.

“Everyone knows that when we sit in the team meetings all the City boys know what’s going on and the Country-folk need to be explained two or three times. Put them all in one room, in the one side, they’ll struggle.”

Luke McDonald will go toe-to-toe with Lindsay Thomas in a duel that could provide some fireworks.

“Every game’s serious at the minute. Last Saturday was really good and this Friday is going to go up another notch,” Macmillan stated.

“I think it’s eight or nine days later we get to go up against the Swans up in Coffs Harbour. Guys will put their hands up and put their best foot forward.”

Shaun Atley has confidence in his fellow country-men, believing they have the edge.

“That’s those City boys, they’re all talk, that’s their problem,” he retorted.

“I used to pick on him [Jamie] actually when he used to rock up to training with his suit and blazer and share portfolio in hand, so I felt a bit sorry for him.”

It’s the last hit-out before the Roos’ first JLT community match against the Swans in Coffs Harbour next week.

A last-minute trade of Carey Wagner to the Country side for Josh Williams finalised the teams on Wednesday night. The mind games now in full swing.

“I think we just bond better the country boys,” Atley added.

“We don’t have the advantages the city boys have, gyms and pools that close.”

Boasting the likes of Clarke, Mountford, Fordham and Mullett, Macmillan gave a sneak-peak at City’s game-plan.

“We’ll just run away from them. Everyone knows that their strengths are inside and Cunners can palm you off and throw you over the fence, but I don’t think I’ll get in a wrestle with him, I’ll just run away from him.”

Bragging rights, and perhaps a little bit extra could be on the line for the winners.

“I think the country boys want the city boys to service their tractors or something, so we’ll see how we go,” Macmillan said.

The first bounce will be at around 2.10 at Arden Street.
