The good form of several players in the VFL makes for an interesting week at selection.

While North fell short against Essendon, it was very much in the game right up until the final minutes. Will Brad Scott and the match committee opt for a similar lineup and who will come in for the injured Mason Wood?

NMFC.com.au looks at those in the mix for a call-up.

Defenders

Ben McKay and Sam Durdin have been around the mark all season, with the former the match-day emergency last week.

Only the outstanding form of the experienced defenders in the team is holding the pair back, with an opportunity not too far away.

Running defender Alex Morgan has been finding more and more of the ball as the season’s gone on, amassing 24 disposals against Coburg.

Midfielders

A raft of on-ballers have been gathering high possession numbers at VFL level, with the likes of Luke Davies-Uniacke, Josh Williams and Mitch Hibberd all getting plenty of the footy.

Ben Jacobs was a late withdrawal last week due to concussion, with the Roos sweating on his fitness heading into a vital stage of the year.

One player able to play in both the midfield and up forward, Will Walker has been thereabouts all year, and another 17 disposals and 2 goals on the weekend won’t do his chances of a debut any harm.

Forwards

Nick Larkey has been copping plenty of attention from opposition coaches in recent weeks, which only highlights just how impressive his development has been. The youngster could be the obvious replacement for Mason Wood, unless the Roos opt for a smaller option in Cam Zurhaar.
