Although things didn't end as Alex Morgan would have liked last season, the speedy defender has decided to return to Arden St in 2019.

After making his senior debut in Round 17 against Sydney, Morgan has signed on with the club's VFL side and hopes his AFL dream is far from over.

“I still hold ambitions of playing at the top level once again,” Morgan told North Media.

“I think being at an AFL-aligned club, where the facilities are up-to-date and really new is really going to help me get there.

Morgan was delisted from the club’s AFL side at the end of 2018 but knows North Melbourne is the best place for him.

“I’m pretty excited to have signed,” Morgan said.

“I really like the game plan that the AFL side implemented last year, particularly this pre-season.

“I think it plays to my strengths which has made it really enjoyable for me.

“Initially it was a little bit weird having been delisted by the club, but I talked to David Loader (VFL coach) and he told me his plans, so in the end I felt it was the right fit.”

Despite spending just the one year on the Kangaroos' AFL list, the 23-year-old says the club holds a special place in his life.

“I really enjoyed playing at the club last year,” he said.

“Making my debut here makes it an easier decision, and having really close relationships with both the AFL and VFL-listed players has really helped as well.”

The running defender hopes that he can share his experiences as an AFL footballer with his younger teammates, who haven’t yet had a taste of senior football.

“It was only two games of AFL experience, but it was really three years in the system,” he said.

“Hopefully throughout the year I can help some people out, but I’ll still be looking to learn myself.”
