There was a strong turnout at the North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos’ final open session on Saturday.

The squad went through a variety of drills in picture perfect conditions at North Hobart Oval ahead of Sunday's historic first game.

Key defender Danielle Hardiman and Kate Gillespie-Jones will play against their former side Carlton for the first time since switching to Arden Street.

Hardiman is looking forward to facing her former teammates.

"Everyone was friends there, I don't have anyone that's hating on me,” she joked.

“It will all be good in the end and I'm looking forward to catching up with the girls after the game."

Shortly after arriving in Hobart, the players got a feel for the conditions, having a hit-out in conditions that will mirror the heat on Sunday afternoon.

"There's a good vibe in the group at the moment," Hardiman said.

"Everyone is really excited and happy to be in the team at the same time. It's a really good time within the group at the moment."

Although the Victorian-based contingent have had limited time to prepare with the interstate Roos, Hardiman believes there is a strong sense of cohesion within the group.

"It's also been really good to catch up with the Tassie girls and have them involved," she said.

"With them being in another state, it can be a little bit hard, but it's really good to now have them involved.

"The game is now so close, we've just been trying to get the little things right. We've been working on our kicking right and our kick-ins as well.

"We're just looking to get everything right for tomorrow afternoon."
