Jack Ziebell has vowed North Melbourne will bounce back quickly after a bitterly disappointing Round 1 loss to Fremantle.

Nothing went right for the Roos at Optus Stadium on Sunday afternoon, overrun by a red-hot Dockers outfit, and Ziebell says he and teammates are feeling the hurt.

“It was a bad day at the office to say the least,” Ziebell told North Media post-game.

“If you walk into the locker room you’ll see how deflated the boys are.

“We’re pretty flat and pretty shitty to be honest.

“That performance is not what this group stands for and our challenge now is to put that disappointment behind us focus in on our match against Brisbane in seven days time.”

North led just once, at the mid-way point of the opening term, and from there, the home side ran riot.

While it hurts now, the captain believes his side has what it takes to right its wrongs next Sunday against Brisbane.

“For us, we missed an opportunity, and there’s no doubt there’s a lot of work to do, but I know the quality of players and characters in that room and we’ll turn it around, 100 per cent,” Ziebell said.

“You look over the history of our club, it performs its strongest when its back is against the wall.

“After today, our back is against the wall.

“We’ll be coming out next week and be strong.”
