North Melbourne is likely to make changes to its side that was defeated by Essendon by 58 points on Friday evening.

For the club’s VFL side, it suffered a similar fate, but there were some players that put their hand up for senior selection.

Meanwhile, two Roos are likely to return after sitting out last weekend.

North Media takes a look at those in the mix for Round 6 against Port Adelaide

Defenders

Having served his one-week suspension, Luke McDonald will be pushing his case to take on Port Adelaide.

With Marley Williams still sidelined with an ankle injury, McDonald will be needed to play an important role on the opposition’s best small forward.

Midfielders

Ruckman Tom Campbell was considered to be North’s top performer in the VFL on the weekend, recording 34-hitouts, 12 disposals and kicking a goal.

Sharing the ruck duties with 20-year-old Tristan Xerri, Campbell spent some time inside the forward 50, continuing to develop his forward craft.

Having played two senior matches in 2019, the former Bulldog is a reliable option for the Roos.

Dom Tyson will be keen to win back his spot on the ball.

Forwards

Tarryn Thomas is a strong chance to regain his spot in the senior side after being rested last week.

Thomas didn’t feature at either level on the weekend, so should be fit and firing for the upcoming matches.

A strong mark and prominent tackler in-front of goal, Thomas brings that high pressure style of play that excels in the modern game.

Nathan Hrovat spent a large amount of his time in the midfield on Saturday at VFL level, and his numbers reflected that.

A forward by trade, Hrovat collected 28 disposals, which is just the latest performance in a strong stretch of games for the 24-year-old.

While Nick Larkey’s impact wasn’t reflected on the scoreboard or the stat sheet, the 20-year-old was a presence up forward, providing contests and setting up his teammates.

Having not played a senior game since Round 20, 2017, Larkey remains in the mix to play alongside Ben Brown inside forward 50.

Dynamic forwards Taylor Garner and Curtis Taylor could also be in the running to play.
