Port Adelaide will look to nullify the impact of Robbie Tarrant and Scott Thompson in a bid to continue its impressive form.

The Power were able to negate the influence of West Coast star Jeremy McGovern in the air last week, and are forecasting a similar plan against North.

“The way our forwards scrapped it out and made sure they got a hand in to intercept those balls, and make sure the likes of McGovern weren’t taking marks was fantastic,” co-captain Tom Jonas said on Thursday.

“If you look at the North Melbourne team, they are very similar (to the Eagles).

“They’ve got Robbie Tarrant and Scott Thompson who are key intercept markers.

“Where the opportunity provides itself - kicking the ball along the ground or high - then we definitely will (apply similar tactics).”

The Power upset the Eagles by 42 points in their Round 5 clash, moving them up to sixth place on the ladder.

A win on Friday night could see Ken Hinkley’s team equal for wins, at the top of the table.

Both team lineups will be announced on Thursday night.
