An outstanding performance from Jasmine Garner wasn't enough to stop Melbourne Uni falling just short to an undefeated Richmond outfit on Saturday at Arden Street.

Inaccurate kicking kept the side goalless in the first half, while the Tigers managed three.

After clawing its way back in the third term, Melbourne Uni trailed by just four points with a quarter to play. A see-sawing final term eventually going the way of the Tigers, who won by three points.

North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos' star Garner was dangerous playing in the midfield and forward-line with 22 disposals, 8 marks, 4 clearances and 3 of the team’s 4 goals.

Speedy midfielder Ash Riddell had 33 touches, while Jenna Bruton showed her prowess with 27 disposals, 8 tackles and 7 clearances; both providing multiple opportunities in attack.

Kate Gillespie-Jones had another strong game with 22 disposals, 5 inside 50s, and 12 tackles.

Nicole Julian played a shutdown role against Tayla Stahl-Smith; one of the Tigers’ dangerous forwards, limiting her to one goal.
