Melbourne Uni (MUWFC) fell short to a strong Hawthorn outfit on the weekend, sliding to sixth place on the ladder.

Booting 6 goals to the Hawks 5 in the opening half, Melbourne Uni created plenty of opportunities.

Hawthorn came out firing in the third term with 6 goals to the home side’s 1, entering the final break leading by 20 points.

The Hawks eventually ran out 23 point victors.

Despite the tough defeat, Kate Gillespie-Jones was dominant again, kicking 2 goals, 21 disposals, and 5 tackles.

North AFLW teammates Jas Garner and Jenna Bruton didn’t go unnoticed, with 19 disposals and a goal, and 18 disposals, respectively.

With two games left over the remaining three rounds, Melbourne Uni will need to bring its best against Geelong and NT Thunder to secure its finals berth.
