North key defender, Declan Watson, has been delisted.

From Aspley, Watson impressed in the under-18 championships in 2016, before being taken with selection 34 at the National Draft.

Watson has a strong ability to read the play and shut down the opposition's best forward, while generating drive going the other way.

Watson enjoyed a solid first season in the VFL and Development League for Werribee, but a devastating training incident left him with a ruptured ACL, ending his 2017 season.

After taking the following year to recover, he was awarded with a one-year contract extension.

He showed promising signs in the VFL, but suffered another knee injury late in the season.

“Declan showed some great potential but unfortunately was set back with injury,” North VFL coach David Loader said.

“He was a great contributor to our group and we certainly wish him all the best for the future.”
