Kate Gillespie-Jones has been recognised for an outstanding VFLW season with the 2019 Michelle Dench Medal at Melbourne Uni’s best and fairest.

Playing 14 matches and averaging 21.8 disposals and 7.1 tackles a game, her impact could not be denied.

It wasn’t just Gillespie-Jones’s on field performance that impressed the coaches, but her work ethic and attitude.

“Kate’s been a standout all season, she’s been a great role model for some of the younger girls as well, she works hard and brings a great positive energy to the team,” coach Scott Gowans told North Media.

North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroo teammate, Jas Garner, was a close second for the top honour.

Kicking 21 goals and averaging 23.5 disposals across her 11 games played, Garner was the leading goal kicker, and voted best finals player and was critical to the team’s successes.
