As Australia celebrates National Volunteer Week, we are profiling the amazing work of The Huddle volunteers.

Janine Gollant, Huddle Volunteer

What do you do when you are not at The Huddle?

I am a secondary school teacher.

Why did you choose to volunteer at The Huddle?

I am a North Melbourne supporter and I met another supporter who was involved in The Huddle. I wanted to also be part of The Huddle’s important work.

What’s your favourite thing about The Huddle?

The positive atmosphere and energy. The students are so focused and positive and so appreciative of the help. They really inspire me. The Huddle is such a warm, welcoming and inviting space, I drive across town to be there but the moment I walk through the door I’m just so pleased to be there. We really do get back as much or more than we give.

If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?

I’m a great fan of the Peninsula Day Springs at the Mornington Peninsula but I guess sitting on the Amalfi Coast watching the boats go by would be nice too. All sounds very indulgent...oh well!
