Tasmanian recruit Abbey Green isn’t afraid to dream big in the lead-up to the Round 2 clash against GWS in her home state.

"It's been hyped up, obviously, but it'll be a dream come true to play in front of a home crowd," Green told The Examiner.

For the 23-year-old, it’s about much more than just the excitement of a potential debut.

"For us Launceston girls, it is something that we have worked really hard for a long time, so the pay-off would be very rewarding to play,” Green explained.

Overlooked for selection in Round 1, the emerging ruck says she's ready, should an opportunity present.

"I'm still putting my hand up pretty high this week to play. I had a good training last night and we have another Wednesday," Green said.

"So I know I will be pushing myself to the next level to make sure I get a game.

"I know getting selected it will be just huge, really.”

Regardless of the outcome, Green’s excitement for the season remains high.

"At the end of the day, we will all be having a run before the game with match simulation, even if we're not selected for the big game,” Green added.

“Regardless of selection I am happy just to be a part of this AFLW program.”

The first bounce will be at 3.10pm at UTAS stadium on Saturday, February 15. Entry is free.
