Background: Pre-NMFC

Pick 72 in the 2017 NAB AFL Draft, 201cm Xerri is an exciting ruck prospect out of the Western Jets.

A boyhood North Melbourne fan, Xerri gained North’s interest after strong performances for its affiliate VFL team, Werribee.

Pitted against AFL-listed ruckmen in his three VFL matches, Xerri more than held his own and encouraged North Melbourne to take him with their fourth pick of the draft.

The towering ruckman continued to develop in the VFL, playing also as a key-forward.

He formed a formidable pairing with Tom Campbell in the ruck, and his strong contested marking ability attracted attention, as did his eye for goal.

2018

It was always set to be a year of development for young ruckman Tristan Xerri, who had the luxury of working with the likes of Todd Goldstein and ruck coach Will Minson.

Playing 13 games in the VFL, mostly as a forward, Xerri used his height and unique agility to impact matches, and experience what it’s like competing against some bigger and stronger opponents.

North committed to developing the big man, extending his contract until the end of 2020.
