The North Melbourne Kangaroos have proudly launched their inaugural Pride guernsey ahead of AFLW Pride Round this weekend.

The Pride guernsey design represents the club’s past and it’s diverse and progressive future. It features the traditional bounding Roo, synonymous with the club’s on-field success in the 1990s, in the centre and vertical rainbow stripes on the front and back of the guernsey.

“Today is a very proud moment for our club,” North Melbourne Chief Executive Ben Amarfio said

“The Pride guernsey is a representation of our past, our present and our future.

“We are proud of our club culture, one based around respect, dignity and inclusion and this guernsey is a great representation of our North Melbourne community.

“This weekend, Pride Round provides an opportunity for us to acknowledge and celebrate the diverse communities that make up our club and gives up a very public platform to create a match day where everyone feels a genuine sense of belonging.”

On Tuesday, AFLW players Daisy Bateman, Daria Bannister and Ellie Gavalas helped to officially launch the club’s Pride guernsey ahead of their round 3 clash with the GWS Giants at Arden Street Oval this Sunday.

“Pride round is super important to me and my teammates,” Bateman said.

“We are fortunate to have a platform like playing a game down at Arden Street to represent the pride community.

“If we can play a small part like pulling on the jumper and making some people feel really special then there’s something really special in that.”
