Sunday afternoon's huge clash against Richmond at Arden Street Oval will see Hannah Bowey debut as Shinboner No.52.

Bowey came close to joining the North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos' list through the draft period and was soon recruited by the club to be Grace Campbell's injury replacement, after the forward suffered an ACL tear in the pre-season.

She found out she would be making her AFLW debut during Thursday night's team meeting when her family appeared on the big screen to break the news.

The 24-year-old was an important role player with Collingwood in the VFLW before coming to Arden Street, where she has continued to work hard to put herself in a position for an AFLW opportunity.

Predominantly a midfielder, Bowey's work-rate through the middle and on the wings immediately stands out, while her ability to break the lines and get involved in attacking chains will suit the current North Melbourne playing style well.

With brother Jake currently at Melbourne and her father Brett a former St Kilda Saint, football is in Bowey's blood, and it was only a matter of time before she was called upon for a debut since arriving at an AFLW club.

Bowey is set to be the North's eighth debutant for Season 7, following Vikki Wall, Erika O'Shea, Charli Granville, Sophia McCarthy, Taylah Gatt, Ella Maurer and Zoe Savarirayan.
