Ruby Tripodi will make her AFLW debut in the North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos’ season-opener against St Kilda at Blundstone Arena on Sunday.

Tripodi arrived at Arden St via pick No.23 in April’s AFLW Supplementary Draft, following three seasons and back-to-back best and fairest wins for Williamstown’s VFLW side.

The 22-year-old mounted her case for a Round 1 debut with solid performances through the midfield and forward line in the Kangaroos’ pre-season hitouts against Essendon and the Western Bulldogs.

She kicked two goals against the Dogs, while her defensive work ethic was also on show, constantly troubling their defenders when they attempted to exit the backline.

Tripodi learned she would play her first AFLW game this weekend during Wednesday night’s team meeting.

The Kangaroos' full squad for Round 1 will be revealed on Thursday at 6.20pm AEST and the final team will be confirmed on Friday at 5pm AEST.
