After a strong performance in the reserves' Round 5 clash with the Giants, Jackson Archer is firmly in the frame for a season debut.

The emerging back was defensively stout again in the 27-point loss in Blacktown on Friday, able to consistently turn his defensive actions into offensive chains on his way to 15 disposals.

Archer is yet to make a senior appearance this season, his latest AFL game having come against Essendon in Round 22 last year.

Cooper Harvey (syndesmosis) and Eddie Ford (hip pointer) will re-enter the mix having overcome their respective injuries.

Ford was subbed out of the hitout with the Hawks in Round 6 and subsequently missed the trip to Hobart but has returned to full training and will be available for selection.

Harvey hasn’t played since the VFL season opener back in March and may be more likely to return via the reserves, along with draftee defender Wil Dawson who has been cleared after shaking off an AC joint complaint.

Co-captain Jy Simpkin faces a test ahead of the St Kilda clash, having pulled up from Saturday's game against Adelaide with quad tightness.

Liam Shiels was a solid contributor in the reserves finishing with 23 disposals and 11 tackles and stands as an experienced body that Alastair Clarkson could inject into the midfield rotation.

Curtis Taylor was also busy against the Giants with 25 possessions, 14 marks and a goal, and is knocking on the door for his first call-up of the season.

Finnbar Maley and Tyler Sellers are possible tall forward inclusions after the pair combined for 13 marks and five goals.

Sellers notched three goals as the main forward target, while Maley (17 disposals, 12 hitouts) stepped up as the second ruck and become more involved up the field after Hamish Free was concussed.
