At the end of each season, there is the obligatory discussion about who could take “Charlie” home. Footy fans stretch their memories back to games played several months prior in an effort to identify their club’s best chance at winning the coveted award.

This year NMFC.com.au is asking for your help to determine the three best players from each game and you can vote in the Mazda Spirit Awards for your best three Kangaroos.

Last week’s results - 3 – Ben Cunnington, 2 – Todd Goldstein, 1 – Josh Jenkins

The votes from Saturday’s win are likely to be North-influenced, with the visitors having multiple candidates to poll.

Here is the case for everyone in alphabetical order. We’ll pick our 3-2-1, followed by your chance to do so in the polls.

Brent Harvey – NMFC

Returning to the scene of his 400th game, Harvey picked up where he left off. He polled Brownlow votes in that game, and could very well do so again. He finished with 24 disposals and two goals.

Ben Jacobs – NMFC

This is a contentious one. Clearly Jacobs was one of the best – or at least most influential – players on the ground; he restricted Daniel Rich to a career-low seven disposals, taking away a key cog in Brisbane’s midfield brigade.

But taggers don't often poll Brownlow votes.

Lewis Taylor – Brisbane

Taylor tends to find a lot of the ball against North at the Gabba, with Saturday no exception. His 22 disposals and two goals included some eye-catching efforts, although to this point of his career he hasn’t polled a Brownlow vote.

Jarrad Waite – NMFC

Likely to have the inside running for the three votes both in the polls and on Brownlow night itself. Waite was enormous, kicking a game-high five goals, while also amassing 23 disposals.

Coincidentally, the last time Waite kicked at least five goals in a match was Round 2 last year. He notched seven, also against Brisbane and that performance earned him three Brownlow votes.

Daniel Wells – NMFC

After a solid performance against Adelaide, the 31-year-old went up a gear against the Lions. He provided that touch of class around the contest with a game-high seven clearances and looks to be getting better with each minute on the field.

Dayne Zorko – Brisbane

Playing his first game for the season, Zorko had 12 score involvements. It meant he would likely have caught the umpires eye as he amassed 24 disposals; whether it would be enough for any votes remains to be seen.
