8.30am Wednesday (Utah time) the North Melbourne players board the bus for what promises to be a big day.

It's one of three main trainings for the week and in Utah, that means a busy schedule.

A skills session at the indoor facility at Brigham Young University lasts two hours, involving full ground drills, but there's no time for  rest; next the Kangaroos are put through a series of runs on a nearby soccer training field.

300-metre sprints are the perfect test of where the players are at, particularly when there are 16 of them. Breaks that seem to last a matter of seconds provide little relief.

A lunch break allows time for a breather, but then it's back on the bus and off to the USSA (US Ski and Snowboard Association) for more work, this time it's weights.

By 6.30pm the last players filter out to the bus for the journey home, taking the opportunity to get a half-hour sleep in before dinner.

It'll be an early night and a well-deserved day off on Thursday.
