Star Geelong forward Tom Hawkins has been offered a one-match ban by the AFL’s Match Review Panel.

If he accepts the sanction, Hawkins will be unavailable to face North Melbourne on Saturday night.

A challenge by the Cats could risk a further match being added to the one on offer.

The decision will be made on Tuesday.

How the MRP assessed the issue

Tom Hawkins, Geelong, has been charged with striking Phil Davis, GWS Giants, during the third quarter of the Round 11 match between Geelong and GWS Giants, played at Simonds Stadium on Saturday June 4, 2016.

In summary, he can accept a one-match sanction with an early plea.

Based on the available video evidence and a medical report from the GWS Giants Football Club, the incident was assessed as intentional conduct with low impact to the head. The incident was classified as a two-match sanction. The player has no applicable record which impacts the penalty. An early plea enables the player to accept a one-match sanction.
