Liam Anthony has grown tired of being in and out of the North Melbourne side and strongly believes he’s added the necessary elements to his game to ensure he stays in the 22.

Brought in for the match against Fremantle on Sunday, the 25-year old takes a lot of confidence out of the fact he’s fought his way back in and hasn’t been gifted a game.

“It’s just great to be back in the team again…I think I’ve been working pretty hard back in the VFL to get myself back in,” the West Australian told NMFC.com.au before training at Patersons Stadium on Saturday.

“That’s why we’re all on an AFL list, to play seniors and there’s obviously an added bonus for me this week being able to come home and see my family and some mates so it’s a good couple of days and hopefully we top it all off with a win tomorrow.

“I certainly enjoy playing here.  Growing up, Subiaco was the ground you wanted to play on and playing against a team I sort of followed it’s something special.”

Anthony has played just four games so far this year after running out 19 times in 2012.

“I spoke to Brad a few weeks ago and he highlighted the things I needed to work on so I think I did that back in the reserves and hopefully I can continue to improve those areas tomorrow.

“I’ve still got a lot of areas to work on but I’ve been pretty happy with my form.  The things I went out of the side for, I think I’ve been working on them not only at North Ballarat, but at training as well.  If I can continue to improve on those things and add to my asset which is my offensive spread then hopefully I can start becoming a complete player.”

Being complete, also means being able to play in all sorts of circumstances and Perth’s forecast may bring heavy showers during the game against the Dockers.  According to Anthony, North holds no fears.

“The boys played in it (rain) obviously against the Gold Coast a few weeks back and we’ve been training in it for the last two weeks, so whatever weather we get, we’ll be prepared.  We’re not worried about the conditions, we’re just making sure every player performs their role for the team.

“We got beaten around the ball and didn’t adjust to the conditions but we will take a lot from that game, learn from it and use it to our advantage tomorrow.”
