Scott Thompson and Daniel Wells have tied for North’s Syd Barker Medal after a thrilling vote count at Crown on Monday night.

The defender and midfielder capped off stellar seasons finishing on 50 votes apiece.

Thompson, 27, won the award for the first time after finishing second on two occasions.  He also took home the Harold Henderson Best Clubman honour, determined by North’s coaches.

Wells, 28, is now a two-time Syd Barker Medalist and was awarded for his outstanding form and consistency. It is the second time he has shared the best and fairest, after equalling with captain Andrew Swallow in 2011.

Ruckman Todd Goldstein narrowly missed out on making it a three-way tie, finishing just one vote shy of the leaders on 49. Vice-captain Drew Petrie was fourth on 46 votes.

Earlier in the night Wells and Michael Firrito were awarded Life Memberships for their years of service at the Kangaroos.

Vice-captain Jack Ziebell had his fair share of the spotlight winning the Jason McCartney Jumper Award, the Glenn Archer Northerners Award and the Blackwoods Supporters’ Player of the Year Award.

Former Rookie and Rising Star Aaron Mullett was named Best First Year Player after spending his first full year on the senior list while leading goal-kicker Lindsay Thomas was recognised for his work off the field as the Peter Scanlon Community Award winner.
