Over the next two weeks, we'll be building this team and fan votes will be critical every step of the way. That's right - you get the final say.
The team at Footy Prophet will move through each position, shortlisting its pick of the best players. This will include the premium, high-scoring options, the under-priced potential stars and the best of the 2014 rookie crop.
At each stage you, the fans, will have the opportunity to vote on the players you want in the team. We'll be selecting 30 players in total, with a total salary cap of $10 million.
You will then manage the team throughout the season, voting each week on which players should be traded in and out and who should captain.
First up we're starting with defenders, and Footy Prophet has picked the 12 players who could be among the leaders come the end of the season.
There are significant price differentials here, with some players offering durability and consistency, while others offer potential at a cheaper price.
