Just days after re-signing key-defender Lachlan Hansen, North Melbourne has tied up another crucial player with Leigh Adams agreeing to a new deal.

The 26-year-old will remain at Arden Street until at least the end of the 2016 season.

"It's great to get it all out of the way early and just concentrate on the footy," Adams told Glenn McFarlane from the Herald Sun.

"It's good to have the security of another two years."

Adams backed the club's professional environment under the leadership of its head coach.

"I think from the time 'Scotty' (coach Brad Scott) got here, he said if we can create a great culture, blokes won't want to leave and that seems to be working.

"We're all pretty close and good mates down there, and the club looks after us, so no one has really found the need to leave."

Another factor in Adams' decision to stay, has been the faith the Roos have shown in him throughout a career plagued with injury. The most recent setback, a knee injury.

"I've had a few issues with my knee over the years and it didn't really respond the way I wanted it to.

"I had a limited preseason, but I was lucky to just get enough work in at the right time to be able to play in Round 1."

After his first year in 2007, Adams has averaged 19 disposals in his 89 games.

His highest possession tally of 2014 came in Round 4 against the Swans when he racked up 29.

"I feel really confident in my body at the moment, and hopefully I will be able to get better and better as the year goes on."

Hansen signed a new deal earlier in the week taking him through to the end of 2017.
