Jack Ziebell and his team-mates will go out with an attacking mindset on Saturday night, as North looks to rebound from a disappointing loss to Carlton.

The vice-captain says any thoughts of playing "safe footy" against the Cats should be banished.

"We just have to go out with the right mindset against quality opposition, that we have to play the way we want to play," Ziebell told The Age’s Jon Pierik.

"If not, everyone can see what Geelong wants to do. We have got to make sure we are on top of them."

Outworked and outplayed when the teams last met in Round 10, the Kangaroos will be desperate to start well.

Simply getting the ball in their hands early will be paramount for Brad Scott’s team at Etihad Stadium.

"If you play safe footy, it's pretty easy to defend. You almost have to keep the ball going around a little bit. In a sense, Geelong do it the best I reckon," Ziebell said.

"They just keep the ball flipping around, they do it pretty well when they attack (through) the corridor. They move the ball - it's really hard to defend.

"We have been trying to work on some things; we'll see how they go Saturday night. Hopefully, we can be a lot more attacking and get the ball inside 50 more to our big forwards."

Some valuable lessons came out of the defeat at the hands of the Blues a fortnight ago.

“The review was good - the review wasn't too over the top - we had to get some things out of it and identify things we needed to fix. Through training we have gone a long way in doing that but, obviously, you can't fix anything until you play another game."

Match simulation was a feature of this week’s skills sessions, with the players raring to go after a four-day break in the bye.

"The training this week has been good. It's probably a little bit more than we normally do during the week but that is because we haven't played on the weekend. The bodies are feeling a lot fresher.”
