Season in review

In year seven at Arden Street, Nathan Grima started 2014 fit and firing in the senior side.

Five consecutive games of 20 disposals or more marked the defender’s beginning to 2014 – the first time he’d achieved that in his career.

However following the loss to Gold Coast in Round 7, Grima developed soreness in his foot and was forced to sit on the sidelines.

The persistent injury refused to subside, and by the time the number 17 returned to the side in Round 20, he had missed 11 games.

Showing his importance to North, Grima’s return coincided with the beginning of the side’s six game win streak.

Playing alongside Scott Thompson as the Kangaroos’ two main key defenders, Grima played out the season without further injury and was rewarded with a new one year deal.

The popular Roo needs to play 14 games in 2015 to reach the 100-match milestone.

“I remember a time after footy finished and he (Nathan) wouldn't do a thing for six weeks, then he'd come back and win the three-k time trial. He can just push his body harder than anyone else, he's pretty tough.” – Todd Grima (Nathan’s brother)

October 3 – Grima re-signs – NMFC.com.au

“I get a bit nervous if I say my body's feeling good because I'm shopping in Myer at the minute and I'll probably trip over a coat-hanger or something.”
