Defender Lachie Hansen says he is ready to regain his spot in North's 22-man squad after making a successful comeback from a hip complaint last Sunday.

The 26-year-old injured his hip in the Roos' round 14 clash against Gold Coast and returned to the field last weekend through VFL affiliate Werribee after missing the previous two games.

Hansen said he "was better for the run" and was continuing to build towards a senior call-up.

"The body's pulled up pretty well, I got through the game well so hopefully I've done enough to squeeze back into the team, if not I might need another week back there," Hansen told NMFC.com.au on Tuesday.

"On the Monday and Tuesday (after the Suns game) the body was still pretty sore and I couldn't really get through training on Wednesday, so we thought it was better to rest it for a couple of weeks and get it right."

As part of his two-week injury layoff, Hansen completed a series of rehabilitation training exercises to strengthen his hip, groin and core.

Hansen received a knock to his calf early in the last quarter of Werribee's 13-point win against Box Hill and sat out the rest of the game as a precaution.

The 197cm backman said he could have remained on the ground but the club took a "conservative approach" given the wet and blustery conditions at Avalon Airport Oval.

"I kept playing for a little bit, came off and the physios and coaches thought I could've gone back on but they didn't want to risk it," Hansen said.

"It was nothing major, I trained fully today (Tuesday) so that was all fine.

"I got three-and-a-bit quarters in and the body's pulled up well so it was a good result, and we had a good win, too."
