Jack Ziebell is a step closer to becoming a one-club player at North Melbourne, after signing a new contract extension that will keep him at Arden St until at least 2021.

Ziebell, who was already contracted for 2016, has signed a five year extension, meaning he will be a 31-year-old when his new contract expires.

The 24-year-old was selected with pick nine in the 2008 National Draft and has played 124 games.

North revealed the news to more than 900 guests at the annual Syd Barker Medal night.

Ziebell said he had never contemplated a move away from Arden St.

“I’ve loved every minute at North Melbourne and wouldn’t want to be anywhere else,” Ziebell said.

“I’m proud to be part of what is an amazing culture and a place where we are primed for success.

“While this year was ultimately disappointing on field, everyone here – from the players, to the coaching staff, to the administration – know what we can achieve going forward and are aware of the hard work we need to put in.”

Senior coach Brad Scott said Ziebell was admired for his attack on the footy, leadership and commitment off the field.

“Jack is a courageous player that puts everything on the line week-in, week-out,” Scott said.

“He’s a natural leader and an important part of the club’s future and his loyalty has never been questioned.

“We are absolutely delighted he’s committed until at least the end of the 2021 season.”
