Jed Anderson is now a North Melbourne player, after Hawthorn and the Roos agreed to a trade for the exciting young midfielder/forward.

North will exchange its first round (currently 15) and third round (54) picks for Anderson, as well as receiving picks 38 and 40 from the Hawks.

Anderson will make the move to Arden St on the hunt for more AFL game time, after limited opportunities since joining the Hawks as part of the 2012 National Draft.

North GM Football Operations and List Management Cameron Joyce said the 21-year-old would be a valuable addition at Arden St.

"Jed is a quality young man and he has impressed many during his time at the Hawks both on and off the field," Joyce said.

"We were certainly impressed with the way he's conducted himself since we first met him and a trade was initially discussed.

"We know that there was plenty of interest in Jed and are delighted he sees his future in North Melbourne colours. We can't wait to see him in action this pre-season and beyond."

Anderson has played 10 AFL games with the Hawks, which included four in 2015.

With the ability to play both in the midfield and in the forward line, Anderson's line breaking speed, courage and attack on the ball makes him an exciting prospect for North fans.

Anderson said he was delighted to be donning the royal blue and white in 2016.

“North Melbourne have shown over the past couple of years that they are building towards something really exciting and I’m looking forward to being part of that,” Anderson said.

“Everyone at the club has been really professional and I can’t wait to get my first pre-season underway with my new teammates.

“A big thank you also to the Hawthorn Footy Club for their support over the past few years, it’s been a great club to be involved with.”

Anderson will link up with his new teammates when a selection of North players head to Utah in late November.
