North Melbourne's Robbie Tarrant has been named in the AFL Coaches Association's All-Australian team.

Tarrant, who polled 29 votes in the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year, was named at centre-half back.

The key-defender had a brilliant season, also earning a nod in the initial 40-man All-Australian squad released on Monday.

Across the season, Tarrant has averaged 16 disposals, 6 marks, 4 rebound 50's and 7 one percenters a game.

He also boasts a remarkable record against the league's best forwards, conceding just three goals in the last seven matches of the home and away season.

Meanwhile, Todd Goldstein was named on the interchange of the coaches' squad.

Goldstein had a brilliant start to the season, polling in seven of the first nine games, and eventually finished with 51 votes. He was only better in the ruck division by the Demons' Max Gawn (63 votes).

“It achieves that by first establishing the modern day structure of the team and then populating it with the best specialist players for that structure, as determined by the industry’s experts: Professional AFL coaches.”
