Luke Beveridge says the Western Bulldogs need to find form quickly if they are to have a significant impact in September.

The Bulldogs are currently in ninth position on the AFL ladder, having lost four of their last five games, but their coach is confident things can quickly turn.

“We went into last week’s game making sure we found it (form) and we didn’t. We are well aware as the weeks tick by, that our chances towards the back end of the year diminish,” Beveridge said on Friday.

“We’ve got to focus on the things that made us a good side when we’ve beaten pretty good teams. We feel we can get back there. It’s as good a time as any against the Kangaroos this week.”

Sunday’s 57-point loss against Melbourne was the Bulldogs’ worst, in respect to margin, in a year.

“Melbourne was very good last week and the things you might think let us down maybe didn’t at different times,” Beveridge said.

“We were really poor with our ball movement, we invited pressure and we found it really difficult to defend because we were so off with our skills.”

The Bulldogs have recalled Tom Campbell and Jack Redpath for Saturday night’s clash against North, with Lin Jong (knee) and Tom Boyd (calf) out.

Beveridge hinted big man Jordan Roughead could be sent back to counter a tall Roos’ attack, with Jarrad Waite, Majak Daw, Ben Brown and Mason Wood all looming large.

“He (Roughead) showed some good signs when he went back there, and he has a been a pretty good key-defender at different times,” Beveridge added.

“We’ve played against them before when they’ve been really tall and haven’t necessarily gone that way, but there’s no doubt it’s the land of the giants up forward for them.”
