North Melbourne has secured a mix of experienced leadership and promising young talent with Luke McDonald, Tom Blamires and Wil Dawson all re-signing with the club.

Former co-captain McDonald has signed a one-year extension, locking him in for a 14th season at Arden Street. Arriving at the club as a father-son selection in the 2013 National Draft, the 31-year-old defender has been a pillar of reliability and leadership over 235 senior games.

Blamires has also earned a one-year extension following an impressive first season at AFL level to date. The 23-year-old was signed during this year’s Pre-Season Supplemental Selection Period (SSP) following a season-ending injury to Jackson Archer, quickly adapting to the elite level to play 15 games so far in 2026.

Dawson has put pen to paper on a new two-year extension. Drafted with selection No.22 in the 2023 AFL Draft, the 20-year-old has enjoyed his most consistent campaign to date, displaying his versatility across multiple roles and featuring in seven AFL games this season.

"Luke has been a great servant of the club for well over a decade, and his leadership and competitive drive remain as vital as ever," North Melbourne head of football talent Brady Rawlings said.

"His experience on and off the field is valuable for our group, and we’re thrilled to have him locked in to play on into a 14th season.

"Tom came into the club late in the pre-season, but he grabbed his opportunity with both hands. To perform at the level he has in his first AFL season is a testament to his work ethic and resilience.

"Wil has made promising strides in his development this year. He's shown great flexibility playing a variety of roles for us, and he has plenty of improvement left in him over the next couple of years."
