With North Melbourne suffering a disappointing 33-point loss to Port Adelaide, and the North VFL team enjoying a dominant 52-point win against the Coburg Lions, there could be changes made in the AFL this weekend.

North Media looks at those in the mix for selection ahead of Saturday's match-up with Sydney.

Defenders

Sam Wright is knocking down the door for an AFL recall, and the experienced defender had 27 disposals and took 10 marks off half-back for the Roos' VFL side.

Midfielders

Shaun Higgins will be assessed as the week goes on as he recovers from a nasty concussion. If fit, he's certain to return.

Paul Ahern continues to show why he was taken so highly in his draft class, and he had another 22-touches in a classy display.

Ruckman Braydon Preuss recorded another 35 hit-out effort, but with Todd Goldstein having another solid game of his own at AFL-level, he may have to bide his time a bit longer.

Forwards

Nick Larkey continued his fantastic scoring form, kicking another three majors against the Lions.

Taylor Garner made a big impact as he returns from the groin injury that plagued him over the pre-season. The electric forward was everywhere, picking up 27 touches and kicking 4 goals.

Mason Wood enjoyed his best game of the VFL season so far, collecting 22 disposals and 6 goals.

Nathan Hrovat had a solid game as he returned from a fractured thumb, picking up 16 possessions.
