North Melbourne will be out to spoil another trip to Tasmania for West Coast when the sides again meet on the apple isle late in the 2018 season.

The Roos will take on the Eagles at Blundstone Arena in Round 19, evoking memories of their last nail-biting encounter at the venue.

That was back in 2015 when North defied the odds and conditions to claim a memorable 10-point win - without coach Brad Scott who was unavailable after back surgery.

The Tasmania match is the third of the year for North and comes after clashes with Carlton in Round 4 and Greater Western Sydney in Round 9.

North Managing Director and CEO Carl Dilena said the Saturday night fixture against the Blues was a great way to kick off the Roos return to Hobart.

“Playing a big game under lights within the opening rounds of the season is a great result for not only our club but for our supporters in Tasmania," Dilena said.

“Last year the fixture presented a challenge with the afternoon time slots competing with local sports and events like Agfest and the V8s.

“The AFL has been able to overcome those hurdles and has avoided such clashes this time around. Playing the Blues, in what's their first time in Hobart, will create a great deal of buzz in the state and will we encourage fans of both sides to buy their tickets early and avoid missing out."
