North’s pre-season ended in Canberra on Friday night with a 38-point loss to the GWS Giants.

Despite the loss, there were several promising signs, particularly in the first half.

Jarrad Waite

“It’s always good to get on the end of a couple, not getting too excited though.

“It’s good to go into Round 1 with a bit of form.

“It’s been good for us, we’ve played some really good footy (in the pre-season), and probably the second half of tonight is good for us to tighten a few things up and we’ll take a lot of things out of this.

“This is what we play for now with Round 1 pretty important to get off to a good start.

Kayne Turner

“Our pressure was really good in the first half and we were winning it out of the middle.

“It was the whole forward line and midfield as a collective (applying pressure).

“We had a big emphasis on keeping it in the forward half and making their defenders use the ball under pressure.

Sam Wright

“It’s good to be back out with the boys. A bit rusty, but you get that first game back.

“It’ll just continue to get better over the next few weeks, and hopefully get some more game time in next week and go from there.

“It was disappointing to drop off in the end, but it was good signs (in the first half).
