At the end of each season, there is the obligatory discussion about who could take “Charlie” home. Footy fans stretch their memories back to games played several months prior in an effort to identify their club’s best chance at winning the coveted award.

This year NMFC.com.au is asking for your help to determine the three best players from each game and you can vote in the Mazda Spirit Awards for your best three Kangaroos.

2 – Daniel Wells

It may be the hardest game of the year so far to pick Brownlow votes. A very even team performance means there are multiple candidates to poll.

Here is the case for everyone in alphabetical order. We’ll pick our 3-2-1, followed by your chance to have your say.

Ben Brown – NMFC

The leading goal scorer for the victors, Brown kicked four to go with his 14 disposals, five marks and four inside 50’s.

He’s now on 12 goals for the season in five games; seven of which have come in the last two weeks.

Nick Dal Santo – NMFC

It was Dal Santo’s best game of 2016 so far. He had a team-high 28 disposals and was important when North was making its game-breaking run late in the third and early in the last quarter.

Todd Goldstein – NMFC

Coming up against a former teammate in Daniel Currie, it was Goldstein who took the points in the ruck battle.

Two first quarter goals helped North to its early lead and he continued on with his advantage around the ground, finishing with 18 disposals.

Aaron Hall – Gold Coast

In just 77 per cent game time, Hall notched 32 disposals to lead all players. He also had five inside 50’s, providing much of the run and carry for his side.

Shaun Higgins – NMFC

Higgins was important at crucial times for the visitors. Three goals and 18 disposals don’t accurately capture his influence, with the scoreboard every chance of looking substantially different without the 28-year-old’s efforts.

Tom Lynch – Gold Coast

A constant threat all evening in the Suns’ forward 50, Lynch’s marking ability netted him four goals. Usually double-teamed, his presence was able to open up room for his teammates close to home.

Andrew Swallow – NMFC

The skipper was unstoppable when the ball was in dispute, winning a huge 17 contested disposals. Unsurprisingly it was a game-high, as was his seven clearances – all of which came from the centre.

Jarrad Waite – NMFC

While Waite had two goals himself against the Suns, his scoreboard impact came from his assists. He set up four, and had 18 disposals and 10 marks, all in only 67 per cent game time.
