Jarrad Waite and Daniel Wells will be given every opportunity to prove their fitness ahead of this Saturday’s clash with Port Adelaide.

North Director of Football Geoff Walsh said the duo would likely take part in the club’s training session later this week.

“This Thursday’s main session will give us a good indication as to whether they are both ready to go,” Walsh told NMFC.com.au.

“They have been working hard on their individual programs and we hope to be able to name them on Thursday night.”

Meanwhile, Lachlan Hansen could also be available for selection this weekend.

Hansen has been sidelined with a knee complaint, but Walsh said he was close to a return.

“Lachie had a minor knee issue, but has recovered well over the past couple of weeks but like both ‘Wellsy’ and ‘Waitey’ he will also need to prove his fitness at training this week.”

Nick Dal Santo is expected to return after being a late withdrawal from Sunday’s loss to West Coast with illness.

“’Dal’ woke up on game day feeling crook, but we’re hopeful with a couple of days rest he’ll be ready to go this Saturday afternoon.”

Majak Daw will also be put through a fitness test to determine his availability this week after rolling his right ankle while playing for Werribee in last Sunday’s VFL match.

Meanwhile, Sam Durdin made a successful return with Werribee’s Development League side last weekend.
