A number of changes to North Melbourne’s team ahead of Round 13 will mean a bit of a shake-up in the side, and also give us the opportunity to see the AFL Fantasy potential of a few different players.

Trent Dumont, one of the most promising young fantasy players on North’s list, is in the side to give some inside grunt in the absence of Andrew Swallow (concussion) and Ben Cunnington (quad).

With both these players out, Dumont will get a real chance to spend the majority of the game at the contest and attend the majority of centre bounces, something he has not always been able to do in the past.

Watch closely here because that opportunity could be the making of him both as a senior AFL player and as a fantasy prospect.

Also in the side is veteran Farren Ray who is playing his second game for the club after previously coming in to play Carlton a few weeks ago.

Ray acquitted himself well in that match and North fans will be hoping he can do the same here. He’s a player who can score well in fantasy on occasion.

Majak Daw has also come into the side to replace Jarrad Waite who will miss with a hip injury. Daw has put up two good fantasy scores in his two games so far this year, scoring 85 and 84.

Daw can certainly get plenty of points when he plays through the ruck, but it is in the forward line where he is likely to play this week and that may mean less time spent seeing the ball.

Still, if he can get on the end of a few goals and give Todd Goldstein a good chop-out in the ruck here and there, then he could score well once again.

Last but certainly not least, Corey Wagner will debut for North after being taken at pick 43 in last year’s draft.

He’ll probably play a largely forward-based role as a replacement for Robin Nahas, but his ability to put pressure on through tackles and kick goals could see him score well on debut regardless.

Another player to watch closely this week is North’s vice-captain, Jack Ziebell, who in the absence of regular skipper Andrew Swallow is stepping up to lead the side for the first time.

Ziebell is having his best fantasy season to date in 2016, so the question we have is, how will the captaincy affect his scoring?

One would expect that, like Swallow before him, he may be the type to thrive under that responsibility and lift his game to a new level.
